The cost-of-living crisis, work stresses and family issues are all contributing to the decline of the nation’s mental health. Your branch and Unite are determined to help when and where we can. You can speak to any of your reps in confidence to see if they can provide you with more specific resources to help you with the issues you maybe facing. The National Negotiation Committee (NNC) meet with senior leadership periodically to discuss and negotiate pay, terms and conditions on behalf of the Unite membership. This committee is made up of different reps from the three bargaining sectors within the company. It comprises of ten people and this is broken down into the following:
· Full time Convenor
· 3x Network
· 3x Hubs
· 3x Transport
There is then also Unite officials comprising of a National Negotiator and Regional officers.
After talks have finished, a recommendation to accept or reject the offer will be released and details of the balloting process will be released to the membership. On some occasions where talks are exhausted, a neutral position will be announced, and it will be up to the membership to decide.
Once the balloting period has finished, all the ballot boxes will be collected and the NNC with Unite officials will count them and then communicate the result to the company.
This committee meet every quarter to discuss not only pay negotiations, but also any national issues which might arise and require attention. This could be a number of company policies or working conditions which need to be addressed
